Comrie Park kindergarten were recognised as the winners in environmental action in education, highly commended in environmental action in leadership and supreme award winners at the inaugural NRC Environmental Awards 2019.
The kindergarten’s ever-expanding journey started with small ideas and just keeps going deeper and further. Among many other activities, it now hosts Enviroschools expos, develops community gardens, fosters professional development, provides community Wai-planting, grows riparian plants, and recently trialled solar panels which will now be installed at every Northland kindergarten. Its geographic reach is immense and its influenced the lives of around 300 children and their families since it adopted sustainable education as a way of life. Tumeke Comrie!
